The city and municipality of Zaragoza have a combined area of 96,887 hectares, making it the ninth-largest city in Spain. Of this, only 13% is urban development, whilst the rest is occupied by green areas and nature.
In Zaragoza, there are 7 different types of ecosystem: river, wetlands, forest, steppe, farmland, green urban areas and the Imperial Canal of Aragón.
.The convergence of three rivers in the city (Ebro, Huerva and Gállego), as well as its position between four structural platforms (Castellar, Alcubierre, La Muela and La Plana), have resulted in fantastic landscapes, important environments and a rich diversity of fauna and flora.
