The Siege of Zaragoza - Napoleonic Zaragoza
The history of Zaragoza has left its imprint on the character of our city, but the chapter of our history that left an everlasting mark was undoubtedly the Siege of Zaragoza. The people of Zaragoza offered heroic resistance against the invasion of Napoleonic troops between 1808 and 1809. The two terrible sieges converted our capital into a battlefield and its marks can still be seen in the 21st century Zaragoza.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Los Sitios Cultural Association, a very interesting visit is offered to the most emblematic places of the Siege of Zaragoza.

XXIV ROUTE OF THE SIEGE OF ZARAOGZA
According to tradition, on 1 November 2014, the Los Sitios Cultural Association will make a tour to some of the most outstanding places of the two sieges suffered by Zaragoza in 1808 and 1809. This year, the XXIV Route of the Association will start in the emblematic neighbourhood of Tenerias. Harsh combats took place in the neighbourhood, inside the houses and on the rooftops, and it became the scenario of fierce battles. It will also be possible to personally meet the current Duke of Zaragoza, Manuel Alvarez de Toledo, who will accompany us during the solemn floral offering in the crypt of the Pilar Cathedral. The route will end in the Crypt of the Pilar with the traditional offering at Palafox´s tomb.

HISTORICAL RECREATIONS
The Volunteers Association of Aragon carries out historical recreation activity every year relating to the War of Independence. Every two years, odd years, they carry out an important recreation of the Siege of Zaragoza.
