Zaragoza in autumn
Zaragoza in autumn is just beautiful. Take your autumn clothes out of the closet and get outside to enjoy the colours of this magical season.
During Autumn, the Fiestas del Pilar are held, and from the start of September, the city prepares itself to welcome more than four million visitors from all over the world who come for the celebrations.
On 12th October, there is a big fiesta in honour of the Virgen del Pilar, the patron saint of Zaragoza. This is the day of the most important part of the celebrations, the Offering of Flowers, where thousands of worshippers dressed in regional costumes offer bouquets of flowers to the Virgen del Pilar.
During the celebrations, the streets are full of fun activities: concerts, theatre, circuses, arts and crafts, magic shows and puppets shows. The city turns into one big stage full of art, culture and fun for everyone.
Zaragoza in Autumn is also an excellent cultural destination with lots of fun and exciting events on the agenda. These include the Jazz Festival, the Grand Autumn Concerts in the Auditorium, the Zaragoza Film Festival, the Women’s Cinema Exhibition, the Comedy Lounge and many others, making Zaragoza a real festival city.

At the end of September, the city’s theatre schedule begins, each year putting on avant-garde, classic works or the most successful modern productions. The Teatro Principal, the Teatro de las Esquinas, the Teatro de la Estación and the Teatro del Mercado each raise the curtain once again to begin their annual season.
Autumn is also a good time to enjoy our gastronomy. During the first days of November, the city holds a big culinary parade with the traditional Tapas Competition. Different establishments present their miniature gastronomic creations and customers choose the best in each category. In September, Chocotour and Saborea Zaragoza return once again, providing an exquisite way to combine heritage and gastronomy.
Finally, this time of year is a great time to make the most of the pleasant temperature and enjoy walking in the city’s parks. The falling of the leaves and the changing of colours in the trees create some truly beautiful sights in the green areas of the city. The Parque José Antonio Labordeta, the Parque del Agua Luis Buñuel, the banks of the River Ebro or the Arboleda de Macanaz are just some of the places where you can enjoy a beautiful autumn stroll.
