In Aragon we call “lamineros” those with a sweet tooth, those who like sweets. Precisely the word "lamín" refers to a sweet, a delicate delicacy such as the typical sweets of our land and that if you come to Zaragoza, you cannot miss it.

If you visit Zaragoza you can also take home a sweet memory and also, there are several dates indicated in the calendar to taste the most typical: chocolate, fruits, cakes...

Here you have a good sample of the sweetest Zaragoza, which has become authentic "souvenirs", essential for those who visit the city:

  • Fruits from Aragon: You cannot leave Zaragoza without a basket of fruits from Aragon and enjoy the natural flavor of the fruit in the company of the best chocolate. Irreplaceable candy from our land: candied or candied fruits, dipped in dark chocolate, with a characteristic colored cellophane wrapper.
  • Cobblestones: They are the quintessential souvenir for those who visit Zaragoza. As its name indicates, it is a candy brick. They come in many sizes: from the smallest to 5kg!, and flavours: the most typical orange, strawberry, lemon and anise. Its beautiful wrapping with the image of the Virgen del Pilar and its folded ends reminiscent of the cachirulo (typical Aragonese handkerchief) will catch your attention. Its interior keeps a surprise, the letter of the chorus of a jota.
  • Guirlache: Almond, sugar, olive oil and anisetes… One of Zaragoza's typical Christmas sweets is guirlache. Dare to try it!
  • Roscón de San Valero: January 29 is the day of the patron saint of Zaragoza, San Valero. From early in the morning, the people of Zaragoza line up in the Plaza del Pilar to taste one of the 20,000 portions of the traditional roscón and a glass of hot chocolate. The one in the square does not have a filling, but in the many patisseries scattered around the city you will find them with cream, cream and truffle.
  • Relics of Santa Águeda: February 5 is the feast of Santa Águeda, Virgin and martyr, and the patron saint of women. It is tradition to go to the parish of Nuestra Señora del Portillo to venerate the relic of the Saint. And as we always add a sweet touch to the festivities, don't forget to buy a cake in the shape of a woman's breast, filled with truffles and cream.
  • 5 puff pastry: To commemorate the heroic behavior of the maños in the face of the failed Carlist attack, on March 5 the people of Zaragoza go out to enjoy a picnic in the Parque del Tío Jorge. In addition to celebrating the “Cincomarzada” festivity with a puff pastry dessert in the shape of a 5 filled with cream. delicious!
  • Lanzón de San Jorge: The 23rd of April is the Day of Saint George, patron saint of Aragon, and it is celebrated with a typical dessert: a delicious cake made with cream and nougat from Jijona, with a delicious cake covered in yolk, decorated with a cachirulo, the cross and the coat of arms of Saint George in chocolate.
  • The Virgin's mantle: And to celebrate Pilar Day (October 12), in pastry shops you will find a mantle made from puff pastry, cream and egg yolk in its version more classic.
