Antigua Capitanía General

The building was commissioned by the Engineering division High Command and carried out by Commandant Carlos Villa.
It has an irregular shape because of the elliptical structure of the old Glorieta de Pignatelli, today known as Plaza de Aragón. The stone façade is one of the most complete late neo-classical examples in Zaragoza, and clearly shows the influence of Italian models. The central part stands out due to its greater volume and is finished by a pediment with a relief of Minerva surrounded by military attributes.

The piece is crowned by the Spanish coat of arms held up by two lions.
