The Zaragoza City Council, in collaboration with the UN Tourism Affiliate Members Department, is promoting the Tourism Forum Zaragoza 2026: an umbeatable combination, an international event that will bring together cities, experts, and professionals in Zaragoza to reflect on the role of cultural heritage in the sustainable tourism development of European cities.
The Forum will take place in 2026, a key year for the Mudéjar World Heritage of Aragón, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the inscription of Teruel and the 25th anniversary of the extension of the UNESCO designation to Zaragoza and its province. This milestone provides an opportunity to highlight Mudéjar heritage as a hallmark of identity, born from dialogue between cultures and an example of coexistence and urban creativity.
Over the course of two days, the Forum will address three main themes: the relationship between tourism and heritage, the challenges of tourism management in heritage destinations, and the value of World Heritage as a tool for international positioning. The programme will combine keynote presentations, city-to-city dialogues, and participatory formats.
The Forum will be held in three World Heritage sites in Zaragoza—the Aljafería Palace, the Cathedral of the Savior (La Seo), and the Church of San Pablo—and will be complemented by a cultural programme open to the public, strengthening the link between heritage, tourism, and the local community.
