Zaragoza History Centre has been included in the actions embarked upon as part of the Integrated Plan for the City´s Historical Centre. It is one of the main areas of intervention in the project entitled "El despertar del Gallo" (The Rooster´s Awakening), which is part of the EC-funded URBAN Programme. The special plan designed for San Agustín has recovered a place of significant historical meaning and importance for its use by the citizens.
This Centre has been designed as a space offering historical information, whilst, at the same time, bearing very much in mind the city´s future perspectives. We have sought to present information in an innovative, interesting way, aiming to become a point of reference on Zaragoza´s historical patrimony.
The Centre has also brought new life to the district of San Agustín-Tenerías-Magdalena given that its nature is that of motor for change and an instrument that encourages the creation of new economic activities.
The Centre presents the evolution of the city of Zaragoza thematically, using state of the art technologies, giving a total vision and insight into the city from a historical, patrimonial, town-planning, cultural and tourist perspective.
Following the same advanced models established by other European cities, Zaragoza History Centre is available for organising encounters, congresses and conferences, offering a framework of the highest quality for cultural activities.
