Zaragoza will promote sustainable events to comply with the 2030 Agenda
30 November 2020
These are just two examples of all the measures that can be applied to make these events more sustainable, but there are many more in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
Zaragoza Congresos becomes the first Convention Bureau to implement the Eventsost KEY platform, a tool that allows its technicians to draw up sustainability plans for the event organizers, and which represents another important step, said the Zaragoza Congresos Convention Bureau director, Miguel Ángel Argente.
This commitment from Zaragoza Convention Bureau to sustainability goes back a decade. During this time, a Good Practices Manual was written up and, in collaboration with Ecodes, a forest was created, the Bosque Zaragoza Congresos, where participants planted a tree to offset CO2 emissions. Now a further step is being taken in this direction with the implementation of the Eventsost KEY platform, a tool to configure sustainability plans for the organization of more sustainable events.
This methodology includes a carbon footprint calculator, a resource database, a list of more sustainable materials or a scorecard for the management of MICE sustainability indicators related to meeting tourism, among other solutions.
To learn more about the Eventsost KEY options, Zaragoza Convention Bureau is holding this Friday a virtual training session aimed at the 122 associated companies, in which issues such as circular economy or recycling will be addressed, and model sustainability plans will be shown. In short, it will cover measures that may be applied when the health situation allows congresses to be held in person again.
