CREDIT CARDS

Most hotels, restaurants and shops in Zaragoza accept all major credit cards, such as American Express, VISA, MasterCard, 4B, Access and Diners Club.

TIPPING

Service is not included in prices and it is common to tip or round up bills in bars, cafes, restaurants, hotels and taxis, so long as you are satisfied with the service.

MEAL TIMES:

Meal times tend to be a bit later than in the rest of Europe: breakfast, which is very similar in style to on the continent, is served between 07:30 and 10:00 in the morning. Lunch is served at restaurants between 14:00 and 15:30, while dinner is served from 21:00 to 23:00. Most tourist establishments adapt their meal times to European standards and it is common for cafes and bars to offer service, so that it is possible to have tapas, platters (platos combinados), sandwiches and side dishes all day long. Shops open from 10:00 to 13:30-14:00 in the morning and from 16:30-17:00 to 20:00-21:00 in the evening. Department stores open from 10:00 to 21:00 and do not close at lunchtime. Most shops and shopping centres open on Saturdays. Broadly speaking, they remain closed on Sundays and public holidays, although they do open on certain Sundays during the year.

PHARMACIES

Pharmacies have the same opening hours as other shops, although some 24-hour pharmacies do exist. Outside all pharmacies you will find a list of on-duty pharmacies which open outside normal business hours.

CLIMATE

Zaragoza has a semi-desert, continental Mediterranean climate, which gives rise to extreme temperatures. Winters are extremely cold and frost and fog are common in December and January. Summers are warm, with the temperature verging on 40ºC on particularly hot days. There is limited rainfall, and it generally occurs in spring. A strong wind often comes in from the north in winter and in early spring.

MUSEUMS AND MONUMENTS

They usually open mornings and afternoons. They close on Mondays since, as a general rule, they are open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Useful links
