Zaragoza was named as site of the 2008 International Exhibition, on December 16, 2004.

The International Exhibition will be held in Zaragoza from the 14th June to the 14th September, 2008, on the theme of Water and Sustainable Development. The 2008 Exhibition will place both Spain and Zaragoza in the spotlight, as hosts of this ambitious project.
It will be a unique event, in which information, learning and fun will be combined to create the perfect formula to bring out the best of this singular event. It will be a pioneering Exhibition, as it represents the first such International event to be theme-based.
The Ranillas meander, where the International Exhibition will be centred, expects to receive more than 5.5 million visitors in the 93 days the event will last. It can already boast the participation of over a hundred countries, as well as national and international organizations, NGOs and companies. The fair will offer them the opportunity to show the world the projects they have developed around the central theme of the event.
