To spend free time outside of the usual circuits is possible. The supply is wide and varied. In Zaragoza, you can take part in some of the many courses and groups formed in the Houses of Youth or through the PIEE. Weekends can be different with the proposals of 12 Lunas (12 Moons). But if the option is to spend a day outside of Zaragoza, in the mountain or in the city surroundings, several institutions usually organise excursions.

Youth Houses

First of all, the Houses of Youth are a meeting point for young people between 12 and 30 years old, where you can find possibilities to spend your free time, make friends, practice sport or take your first steps in some artistic or cultural activity.
The Houses have a complete programme of courses and workshops that include subjects related to music, plastic arts, sport, cook, nature... and that you can consult in the Youth Agenda of the Website of the CIPAJ http://www.cipaj.org. You can also use its rooms for meeting with your group and make some activity or simply to read magazines, watch films, listen to the radio... Several Houses have other resources such as laboratories of photography or to rehearse in rooms for music bands. All the Houses of Youth have free access to the Internet.
There are 26, 15 in the districts of the city and 11 in rural districts. Opening times: from Tuesday to Sunday afternoons, from 17.30 to 21.30 h; and Saturdays and Sundays also in the morning, from 11.00 to 14.00 h. We suggest you to look for the House nearest to you, put in contact with the organisers and ask for the activities. These are the addresses:

Project of Integration of Schools (PIEE)

The PIEE is a project promoted by the Municipal Service of Youth for using the facilities and resources of the schools to implement cultural, sports and free time activities in out-of-school times. You can participate whether you are a student of the centre or you are living in the same district. The PIEE contributes to each centre an educator that collaborates with students, teachers and parents, as well as with youthful, cultural and neighbours associations, etc, in order to make a program of activities adequate for the interests and needs of the centre. This project is implemented in 27 Centres of Secondary Education, in six Centres of Children and Primary Education of the Historic and Oliver districts, and in three Centres of Special Education.

12 Lunas

12 Lunas is the Programme of Night Sports and Leisure for young people between 16 and 30 years old, organised by the Service of Youth of the City of Zaragoza, that proposes new and entertaining activities so that young people can enjoy in a different way Friday and Saturday nights.
All the activities are free and are carried out in the Houses of Youth, Municipal Sport Centres and other spaces. You can make activities related to music, sport, the Internet and astronomy, among others, although the contents of this programme change according to the season. These are some of the proposals:

• Multisport: voleyball, hockey, batuka, aerobics, football and basketball. They take place in the Municipal Sports Centre (CDM) La Jota (Velilla de Ebro s/n. Tel 976 298 989) and the CDM Oliver (Dr.Valdés Guzmán, s/n. Tel 976 329 073), from 23.00 to 1.00.
  You can also take part in the Sports Celebrations made in the CDM La Jota.
• Concerts. Marathon of music of all the styles for young bands. It takes place in the Civic Centre Estación del Norte (Perdiguera, 7. tel 976 207 580) and in the Civic Centre Universidad (Violante de Hungría, 4 tel 976 721 750), Fridays and Saturdays from 21.00 to 0.30 hours.
• Night without barriers (Noche sin barreras). Board and relation games, plastic arts, cinema-forum on handicapped people and a great variety of ludic proposals, make of this project a ground for integration, solidarity, equality, coexistence and fun without limits, shared by young people with or without disabilities. The activities are carried out at Disminuidos Físicos de Aragón (Physical Handicapped of Aragon (José Luis Pomarón, 9. Tel 976 595 959) from 22.00 to 2.00 hours.
• Astronomical Saturdays (Sábados Astronómicos). A free bus will take you to the observatory of Torrecilla de Valmadrid some Saturdays of July, October and November, where everything is ready to observe the sky, make a virtual stroll by the moon, use digital cameras and discover the universe. The bus leaves at 21.30 h from the Edificio Paraninfo (old faculty of Medicine) and is necessary to register in the office of the Young Plan of the Service of Youth (Casa de los Morlanes, Pza San Carlos) or to call to the Tel. 976 721 832. An adult must accompany minors.
• The Enigma of the 12 Moons (El Enigma de las 12 Lunas). A game in which you must discover the enigma that hides the night of the 12 moons, in groups and sending sms, with questions and alternative answers as clues. All this in the surroundings of the Casa de los Morlanes. There will be surprises for the winners.

Excursions

• Trekking and mountaineering
  Montañeros de Aragón organise excursions of different difficulty in which members and non-members can participate. They have several programs, one that is carried out around Zaragoza, Sunday Mornings with Rucksack (Las mañanas del domingo con mochila), that consists of excursions of four hours by ways or footpaths of little difficulty. Another programme is Trekking, that crosses different areas of our Community in excursions of six hours with little difficulty. There is also a programme of Mountaineering, Ascents and Crossings that includes trekking for high hills or ascents to peaks, and a High Mountain programme for more experts.
  In order to participate is necessary to register before the excursion, to take suitable equipment and clothes and to be in a good physical condition taking into account the difficulty level of the excursions. Minors up to 14 years old must go accompanied of an adult, and as from 14 years old on they will need an authorization.
  Montañeros also has a specific program for young people for a whole weekend.

• Cycling for the surroundings
  Colectivo Pedalea organises different excursions in bicycle. They can be of a day around the city, or of two or more days for other places of our Community, by bicycle and train. In Holy Week and summer, there are routes of one week of an average-low difficulty, and between 20 and 40 km. The group meet every Monday from 20.00 to 22.00 hours in the room of groups of the Interfacultades building. Anybody can participate, and not only university students. The workshop is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 18.00 to 20.00 hours and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 17.00 to 19.00 hours. Tools and books for members are given. The price is one euro per day or a season ticket for five Euros. It is located in the services building of the Campus.

• Natural places (Rincones al natural)
  Rincones al natural is a programme organised by the Cabinet of Environmental Education of the City of Zaragoza. It consists of routes guided by monitors of Ansar that show the most characteristic values of every place. Visits from 9.30 to 14.00 h or from 8.00 to 20.00 h, and the departure point is Pza. Paraíso (Edificio Paraninfo). It is compulsory a previous registration. People of all the ages, minors of 14 years accompanied by adults with authorization, can participate. The programme is made in autumn and spring.

• Environment and fauna
  The objective of the excursions organised by the Asociación Naturalista Ansar is to know places with environmental interest. The trips are on Sundays, and members and not members can participate although the first mentioned have discounts and priority.

Guided walks by the city

Zaragoza Turismo and the Department of Environment propose several guided visits to monuments and natural places of our city.

History Walks. Four different routes to know the monuments of our city and learn a little more of its history and culture:

• Roman Walk: departure from the Office of Tourism of la Zuda, Sundays at 10.30h.
• Mudejar Walk: departure from Pza de La Seo, Saturdays at 10.30h.
• Renaissance Walk: departure from the Office of Tourism of Pza del Pilar, Saturdays at 11h.
• Goya Walk: departure from the Office of Tourism of Pza del Pilar, Sundays at 11h.

Walks are made on foot and the duration is two hours and a half approximately. Tickets can be bought at the offices of tourism of Pza del Pilar, Torreón de la Zuda, Zaragoza-Delicias station and Auditorium Conference Hall. A minimum of 10 people is compulsory to make the visit.

Panoramic Visit. Walk for groups to visit the most emblematic monuments of the city. The duration of the visit is about 3 hours and the itinerary can change, but usually consists of the Basilica del Pilar, La Seo and Palace of la Aljafería.

Dramatised visit. Three different routes are made: Zaragoza, Goya´s Dreams; Zaragoza 1908; and Zaragoza, City of Cultures. Tickets are sold in advance at the municipal offices of tourism, and just before the departure at departure points. Bus capacity is 50 people, and fare 10.40 euros.

Walks in different languages. Guided visit on foot by the Historic Centre, of two hour and a half of duration, in English, French and Italian.

Guided visits around the Parque Grande. Four different routes at week-ends in autumn: Historic-Cultural, Water and Environment, Botanical Garden, and Ornithological. They are free visits with specialised guides that explain the characteristics of every corner of the Parque Grande.

Youthful Agenda of the CIPAJ

The programme of the above mentioned organizations of the city and many others can be consulted in the Youthful Agenda of the Website of the CIPAJ (http://www.cipaj.org). In each card you will find a full description of the activity: name, dates, place, requirements to participate, and contact of the organization. In the Agenda, not only you can search for information, but also is an open door for organizations and associations of the city to put data related to its activities and to use this as a spreading channel.
