Zaragoza is the perfect place to learn Spanish as it is ideally located in the middle valley of the Ebro, equidistant from Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao. There is an international airport, 7km from the city centre, that handles an increasing number of national and international flights, and the complete network of dual-carriageways, motorways and rail links is reinforced by the High Speed Train service (AVE), which reaches Madrid and Barcelona in little over an hour
Zaragoza is a warm and welcoming city for visitors. It is a city with clear Mediterranean roots, and its inhabitants love to fill the streets, squares and avenues to converse, read or simply go for a stroll. Open and full of life, Zaragoza`s residents not only receive visitors with hospitality and warmth, but they will always be ready to share their city, traditions, festivities and love of life with them.
Aragonese cuisine incorporates a wide variety of excellent products and combines tradition and innovation. If you are looking for a more informal atmosphere you`ll find the perfect alternative by going out for tapas. These veritable gastronomic treats create a world of colours and flavours and Zaragoza is renowned for the quality and variety that continue to make the tapas experience a really popular social activity.
The University of Zaragoza has been collaborating with official organisms, such as the Cervantes Institute, the Government of Aragón, the Ministry of Education and Science, Education Councils and Spanish Embassies, since 1927 in order to promote Spanish as a Foreign Language. It is also an Official Examination Centre for the "DELE", or Certificate of Spanish as a Foreign Language.
The increasing influx of foreign students into the city is due to the University`s participation in programmes such as Sócrates Erasmus, Tempos, ALPA, Asia-Link, and Leonardo, amongst others, etc.
